Kumkum Bhagya (English: marriage’s luck) is a Hindi-language Indian television soap opera which broadcasts on Zee TV, the series premiered on 15 April 2014. The show is loosely based on the novel Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. Kumkum Bhagya is it’s Indian interpretation, following the life of a Punjabi matriarch, Sarla Arora, who runs a marriage hall.

The pivotal characters of this new show are strong, feisty women, living together in an all-female matriarchal family. The series stars Sriti Jha, Shabbir Ahluwalia, Mrunal Thakur, and Arjit Taneja are in lead roles.

The series is produced by Ekta Kapoor under her banner Balaji Telefilms. Continuing her tradition, Ekta Kapoor has named the series starting with the letter “k” because she feels it is lucky. The show is directed by Sharad Pandey, and developed by Ekta Kapoor, who won The Best Television Show (Fiction) in the 21st Lions Gold Awards 2015.

Sriti Jha as Pragya of Kumkum Bhagya is making quite some noise with her acting and performance. However, this actress who gained a mainstream role and popularity now has many TV serials to her credit.
